Case Study

Presenting Complain

Patient VX liaw, or now known as Defintely Wan Yun Liaw, is a 19-going-20-year old male who has just been admitted to hospital complaining of

lethargy
chronic fatigue,
sluggish movements,
inability to concentrate,
confusion,
headacahe
drowsiness

everytime he started reading the infamous green bible/the life-and-death book.

Or more commonly accepted as the Drug Disease module notes.

EVERYTIME!

worse,

whatever he reads, go into the brain, come out from the buttock in the next minute.

Social History

He weighs 55kg, single, lives not alone, BUT single, and very much available. He is yet to be a smoker, and drinks occasionally only, despite popular beliefs.

Past Medical History

Parkinsonism, especially muscle tremor.
Rheumatoid Arthritis (only happens during study week)
Unstoppable Yawning (also only during study week)
Stage 1 Alzheimer (also only during study week)
Mild Schizophrenia, as in, hallucinations, (also... aiya u noe liao la!)

Drugs History

Laptop + streamyx (10 hours daily) =to treat unstoppable yawning.
TV (2 hours daily) = to treat R.A
Eating (1 hour daily) = to treat schizophrenia (don't ask why. it works on this patient!)
Sleeping (10 hours daily, nap included) = and the other past medical histories.

On Examination

Patient was found to have IQ as high as a chimpanzee.
His blood pressure declines to 60/40 mmHg and his pulse 95 beats per minute, everytime he opens the deadly book.
Suspected of worsening of Alzheimer Disease.
Hypothyroidism without problems on thyroid.
Suspected Parkinsonism but without defects on brain
Plain laziness.

Current Drug Therapy

Acethlcholinesterase inhibitors? eg Tacrine
--said to be able to delay cognitive deterioaration.

Nootropic drugs? eg Piracetam
--briefly mentioned by wenchin on her msn pm. mind enhancing but limited effects in clinical studies wor!?

L-Dopa?
-to treat Parkinson's disease especially muscle weakness everytime the book is opened.

Antipyschotic Drugs? eg clozapine
-to relieve hallucinations and delusions and hopefully cognitive deficits.

According to studies,
basically, MR Liaw, is wu. yao. ke. jiu.

Meaning, no drugs can cure.

Meaning in Layman's term= wait die.

Any recommendation? End of Semester Exam 杀到来dee.
how?!!

(ps. apologies to non health sciences students.
